Friends of Furzefield (FoF)
Helping Furzefield Primary make the most of their school…
Why do we help?
Friends of Furzefield was started to provide closer links between home life and school. The funds we raise are spent on the ‘extras’ that are not provided by the school budget. We always spend in ways that benefit all our children across all areas of the curriculum.
How we help
Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through events that we run. We always try and respond to the children’s requests: it is great to see them having fun at the events or enjoying using a piece of new equipment that we have been able to donate.
Every year we organise events, including Summer and Christmas fetes, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day wraps, Easter Eggstravaganza, film nights, lolly Fridays, World Book Day, and refreshments at all events.
What we have achieved
This year we have been using some of the money we have raised so far to grant many of the teachers’ ‘Wish List’ requests:
- Eggs that hatched in an incubator so the children could observe and learn
- Wet play game
- Science half day – Science and Technology for girls and boys
- Summer trip to Legoland
- SATS breakfast week
- New scooters for Nursery
- Contribution towards food on the residential
- Fun props for lunchtime dance-offs!
- Bubble machines for the Key Stage 1 playground
- Contribution towards Roman Day
How you can help
There are lots of ways you can help. It doesn’t matter if you can’t come on a regular basis. For example, there are lots of jobs that can be done from home. And we can’t achieve what we do without help! Do you have half an hour to spare?
