September 2020 Plans

Letter from the headteacher

Timings for drop off and pick up

Please arrive promptly at the designated time and entrance.

If you have more than one child please use your earliest time and the entrance/exit for your youngest child.

Only one adult should bring children to school and social distancing rules must be kept whilst children are admitted at the designated time and gate. There will be signage and staff in place that will help to make pick up and drop off run as smoothly as possible.

Protective measures

  • Children will learn, play and eat their lunch with children in their own class, not directly mixing with children from other class or year groups. Each class will form a ‘protective bubble’ of up to 30 children, in line with current government guidance. If your child attends the Ocean Centre, this will act as their bubble.  Links with their mainstream class will be maintained in a socially distanced way.
  • There will be staggered drop-off and collection times as well as separate break and lunch times. Children can eat a packed lunch from home or a hot lunch from the school kitchen.
  • If any pupil or member of their household falls ill with symptoms of Covid-19, they should not attend and should self-isolate and arrange to be tested as per government guidelines.
  • If there is a confirmed case of Covid-19 within a class, in consultation with the local authority, we may need to implement a partial or full closure. In this instance home learning will be provided.
  • Children will have their own resources to use – there will be minimal sharing of equipment. Please only bring what is necessary to school.
  • We would advise that you do not use public transport to get to school but walk or cycle wherever possible.
  • We will increase handwashing and hygiene routines as well as regular cleaning of the school and all equipment.

These measures well be reviewed regularly and adaptations made in line with local and national advice.

Support your child’s return to school

Please talk to your child about returning to school, they may well be anxious, so it is important that they understand why the above arrangements are in place.  Click on this useful resource.

What should my child bring?

Children will be expected to wear full school uniform from September.

We request that children only bring in what they absolutely need, as lockers may be unavailable.  The school will supply your child with all the stationery they require.

Wraparound care and after school clubs

Unfortunately, wraparound care and after school clubs will not be operating when we return.  This is to help ensure that there are minimal contacts between children from different classes and year groups.  Again, this will be reviewed as the term progresses.

I am a Key Worker.  What does this mean?
